UW-L makes Kiplinger’s list
Once again, UW-L has been recognized as a “best value” among the nation’s top 100 public colleges by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance. UW-L ranked No. 39 nationally based on cost for in-state students and No. 38 for those living out of state among more than 500 public four-year colleges and universities. Fundraising begins for new academic building
 Plans for UW-L’s first new academic building since North Hall (now Wimberly Hall) was built 1974 have been unveiled — now it’s time to raise money for the project. The UW-L Foundation seeks to raise $6 million of the $44 million project as part of its Centennial Campaign. Find out more about the building and the campaign at: http://www.uwlax.edu/campaign

Stadium plans move forward
 The UW-L Foundation has given its approval to proceed with Phase I of the Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in light of the most recent development of the bids for Phase I coming in $2.3 million higher than expected. In an unprecedented effort, that new shortfall was raised in five days, bringing the total funds raised to $16.6 million in cash and pledges. UW-L to honor distinguished alumni
Congratulations to the 2008 UW-La Crosse Alumni Award recipients: Darryle Clott, ’66 & ’71, selected as the Maurice O. Graff Distinguished Alumni Award recipient; Chad Hammerschmidt, ’97 & ’99, and Elice Rogers ’83, ’89 & ’91, the Rada Distinguished Alumni Award recipients; and BerNadette Lawson-Williams, ’97, the Multicultural Alumni Award recipient. An awards reception and ceremony is scheduled for Friday, May 16, at the Cleary Alumni & Friends Center. For details or to nominate someone for next year’s award, e-mail alumni@uwlax.edu.
